Right now is a solid time to be a Housewives fan. Several franchises are currently airing, and most of them prove that this TV genre isn’t going away anytime soon. However, fans are thirsty for news regarding The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Will there be a complete reboot, or will a few familiar faces be returning? Long-time viewers really want to know. Now, Melissa Gorga is opening up about her conversations with Andy Cohen and providing at least some hope.
As everyone knows, Melissa is busy these days despite the pause in filming. Not only does she have her Sprinkle by MG cookies, which sold out and were recently restocked, but she also has her successful podcast and boutique. The On Display host has also recently spoken out about the issues surrounding making the cast wait so long to learn their fate with the network.
Recently, Melissa took to her On Display podcast and revealed that she has indeed spoken to Andy about the future of RHONJ. She couldn’t give any specifics, but what she said was a bit reassuring regarding the timeline of production.
According to Melissa, via Reality Tea, “I do ask him [Andy], I do. I’ve seen him. I’ve seen him a couple [of] times, but you know the Bravo gods are, he very much so claims, that they are still figuring it out.”
Andy has said multiple things about where the long-running Bravo series might go and when fans may learn its fate. However, Melissa also said she believed they were waiting until after the new year to begin putting things in place, which has been said before.
She went on, “They were waiting until after the New Year to work on Jersey, so I think maybe their minds are getting together as we speak. It wasn’t being talked about at all, actually, until after the New Year, so I think right now.”
Some fans have even worried if the show may actually go away. After all, the most recent season showed a slight decline in ratings, and there wasn’t even a reunion. Thankfully, Melissa also said, “I do think if they do a big cast shakeup, which Andy has said multiple times, that is happening. I do think it calls for a little bit of a pause because you don’t want it to just happen overnight, like all of a sudden, there’s three new girls.”
In terms of the possibility of a full reboot, she explained, “If I’m giving my honest opinion, I do think they are going to find they’re probably going to keep a few of us. I do think they would probably keep a couple, and they’re definitely going to recast a couple.”
She added, “So I feel like you’re going to get a little old and a little new in the new season.”
Even though there is no concrete news, Melissa also revealed that they are talking to ladies who could join the show. A recent report said the same thing, mentioning that Bravo previously had a cast in mind for a reboot. Plus, these Housewives shows are always scouting for potential new cast members.
According to Melissa, “I know they are casting right now. I know people that they’re talking to.”
Naturally, everyone wants the show back as soon as possible. However, it’s also essential for Bravo and the production company to get this right and find ladies who will actually film together and face their issues head-on.
