“Grey’s Anatomy” alum Eric Dane announced he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) just weeks after calling off his divorce from Rebecca Gayheart.
“I have been diagnosed with ALS,” he told People on Thursday. “I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.”
Dane — who portrays Cal Jacobs in “Euphoria” — revealed he will star in Season 3 of the HBO series and starts filming with the crew next week.
“I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time,” he added.
ALS “is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord,” leading to “loss of muscle control” and progresses over time, according to the Mayo Clinic.
There is no cure for the disease.
Reps for Dane, 52, weren’t immediately available for comment.
The actor announced his diagnosis after giving his marriage to Gayheart, 53, another shot.
Last month, it was revealed the couple, who wed in 2004, had called off their divorce after Gayheart filed to have the petition dismissed, Page Six confirmed.
The actress filed to divorce Dane in February 2018 due to irreconcilable differences and requested joint custody of their children Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13.
Despite previously splitting, Dane and the “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” star maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship.
In 2022, the former exes enjoyed a family vacation in Europe and documented their adventure via social media.
The following year, Dane and Gayheart fueled reconciliation rumors when they came together for a family vacation in Cabo, Mexico.
At the time, the Dane appeared to hold onto Gayheart as their kids followed closely behind.
During their vacation, the two were also seen dining together and Dane was shirtless.
