Film also shared new clips of Ariana Grande as Glinda in Wicked
Fans of Wicked will be able to see Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in the first part of the musical-turned-film in just two months — and a new date for the second installation was announced on Thursday. Universal Pictures revealed in an X post that Wicked Part 2 will hit theaters on Nov. 21, 2025, a few days ahead of the original Nov. 26, 2025, date.
Fans had been wondering when the second part of the musical film would be announced since the first Wicked has seldom been promoted as a two-part movie. (The first part of Wicked will hit theaters Nov. 22, 2024.)
The day before announcing the second film’s new release date, Universal Pictures also shared a teaser of Wicked spotlighting Grande as Glinda. The sneak peek shared some new clips of the Good Witch looking at herself in the mirror, flying in a bubble, and chatting it up with Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey).
“Are you looking for something?” Grande tells Fiyero before a cutesy hair toss. “Or … someone?”
The video also shared new snippets of her singing Wicked favorite “Popular,” Glinda’s standout song in the original musical. “It’s good to see me, isn’t it?” she says at the end of the clip, addressing Oz.
Filmmaker Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights) directed Wicked, which is based on the stage musical and Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The film adaptation is rumored to build on the musical’s plot. Stephen Schwartz, who co-wrote the original play, said the films would include four previously unheard songs.
Along with Erivo and Grande, the film features Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Bowen Yang, and Peter Dinklage.
