Fans of The Real Housewives of Atlanta are gearing up for the show’s long-awaited return. The new season will have a few familiar faces as well as several newbies. One of the cast members people are most excited about is Porsha Williams as she’s back for the first time since departing the series after season 13.
Recently, the reality television star and businesswoman opened up about Kenya Moore‘s future with the show and Simon Guobadia being detained by ICE.
In February 2024, Porsha announced she would be returning to RHOA. Since then, much has changed. She’s now going through a divorce, Kenya was suspended midway through filming for allegedly showcasing sexually explicit images of Brittany Eady, and Phaedra Parks was announced to join the ladies at the tail end of the season.
While on the press tour for RHOA season 16, Porsha stopped by The Breakfast Club for an interview. Naturally, Kenya was one of the most significant topics as everyone wants to know how involved she’ll be this season.
First, Porsha seemed to accuse Brit of saying something “dangerous” to Kenya, which then led to Kenya retaliating.
“The Kenya that I saw this season was not wanting to be in beef and drama too much, like you can even see that in the first episode, she really kind of chilled with it, not her normal self,” said Porsha. “I just feel like mix in the newbie, and some things that were said that were dangerous from the newbie, I felt like Kenya then decided to be even more dangerous.”
Kenya has made some allegations that Brit threatened her with a gun following an argument, although Brit has denied those claims.
When asked about the rumors of Kenya returning full-time for season 17, Porsha harkened back to one of her iconic phrases, saying, “Who said that? I be saying that in real life.”
“I would hope that’s true. I just can’t say I’m 100% in agreement with her not being here. I would love for her to be at the reunion. I’m for what’s best for the show, and I loved where Kenya was going,” she added.
Porsha continued, “She’s not that happy with me right now, but that’s okay. I’ve always been that type. I don’t give a damn how you feel about me. I’m always going to speak the truth. I feel like at this moment, it would be good for Kenya to be at the reunion, and I feel like she is very articulate, and she could speak to Brit, and she could speak to the cast, and she could speak to the fans, and she could find her way back next season.”
When asked why Kenya is upset with her at the moment, the RHOA star responded, “She didn’t like when I compared her to Brit, and I said they were similar, but I meant because they’re both fabulous. They both speak their mind. When you don’t like somebody, you don’t want to be compared to them. But whatever, girl. Hell, I gotta talk about you. You’re a part of the show. Don’t you wanna be talked about?”
She added, “She’s still a big part of the show. She’s not the show, and she didn’t make or break the season, but Kenya is a person I’ve been doing this with for a very long time, and for once, we were possibly about to have a season of not being foes. When Phaedra came in, she helped to elevate the show as well and keep us where we needed to be because everybody’s been wanting to see her.”
One of the other big topics Porsha discussed was her divorce from Simon Guobadia. First, they asked if she had called ICE on Simon. She said, “No. It doesn’t benefit me at all for him to be locked up. Mentally and financially, it doesn’t benefit me.”
“Just because you’re going through a divorce doesn’t mean you hate the person. I hate actions. I hate lies. I hate a lot of characteristics, but I love the person. I would never wish harm on anybody. At the end of the day, I know that he’s the type of person, he’s a slithering snake. He’s gonna find his way out of it. I’m sure he’ll be fine. I pray for him and his family, and I hope they all figure it out,” Porsha said.
Regarding falling for a snake, Porsha said, “I love love. When I meet someone who reciprocates that, nothing else really matters. It’s how you make me feel. I’m very intentional, so if your intentions toward me feel authentic, I’m going to trust that. That’s just how I live my life.”
The interviewers then asked about Simon’s current whereabouts, and she said she only knew what everyone else knew about the situation. She also said, “I just know I’m trying to finish my divorce, and I can’t do that if I don’t have a person to divorce.”
Fans can watch Porsha on the season premiere of RHOA on March 9 on Bravo.
