Kenny Chesney got a very special early birthday present on Tuesday (March 25), one day before he turned 57. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, in a class that also included producer Tony Brown and the late June Carter Cash. Chesney is the youngest solo inductee since Garth Brooks, who was just 50 when he was inducted in 2012.
Chesney is no stranger to awards. He has won entertainer of the year four times at both the Country Music Association Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards. At the CMA Awards, that puts him just behind Brooks, with seven wins. At the ACM Awards, it puts him in third place, behind Brooks, with six wins, and Alabama, with five.
Just about the only major award that has eluded Chesney is the Grammy, where Chesney’s track record stands at 0-6, a surprisingly weak showing for such a major and enduring star.
Chesney is also a fan favorite, of course. He has amassed 33 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, more than any other artist since the chart was launched in January 1990. (Tim McGraw and Blake Shelton are tied for second place with 29 No. 1 hits.) Chesney’s No. 1 hits span nearly 27 years, from “She’s Got It All” in 1997 to “Take Her Home” in 2024.
Chesney’s 33 No. 1 Country Airplay hits are listed here in chronological order. All are solo hits unless otherwise noted. We list the title, the year it hit No. 1 on Country Airplay and the number of weeks it remained on top.
Now we want to know what you think. What’s your favorite of Chesney’s 33 No. 1 Country Airplay hits? Vote!
