Tom Schwartz recalled when Jax Taylor told his then-wife, Brittany Cartwright, that Schwartz and Katie Maloney were “trying to have sex with [him]” while on mushrooms during COVID. Meanwhile, Katie slammed Jax’s claim that he “created” The Valley, which is a spinoff of Vanderpump Rules.
Jax, who exited Pump Rules in 2020, popped back on the screen four years later for The Valley, which features several young couples. However, Jax, Brittany, and Kristen Doute are the only main castmates who once starred on Pump Rules.
On his new podcast, Detox Retox, Tom and his ex-wife Katie recalled doing mushrooms with Jax during COVID.
“I feel like during the pandemic, we [may have] probably overindulged [in mushrooms] out of boredom,” said Tom, via @breakingtherulespodclips on Instagram. “Remember that one weird night where everyone was at our place? It was later in the pandemic … Everyone came over, and Jax took a ton of shrooms and we were all laying out in the backyard.”
“It was such a fun, pure night, but then I remember Jax went home and confided in Brittany,” Tom added. “He’s like, ‘Brittany, I’m freaking out. I’m pretty sure Tom and Katie were trying to have sex with me.’”
Katie added, “We were just trying to, like, calm him down. Definitely not trying to [have sex with him],” she said. “I would rather chew my arm off.”
At one point, Katie shared her thoughts on The Valley.
“It’s crazy how much that show is so just similar to Vanderpump Rules,” she said. “I know they were trying to create like, you know, some difference in it, you know, but the transitions, the music transition, everything is like the exact same.”
“This is … what we wanted [Pump Rules] to eventually become,” she added. “Which is what pisses me off, because like Jax [claims he] created this show. I’m like, b**ch … This was in talks like years before this. Like, this was like gonna be a thing. You didn’t create anything.”
Later on, Tom said cryptically that Jax is “not a big fan” of Katie’s “business partner,” perhaps alluding to Ariana Madix.
