Ariana Grande seemingly hinted that her ex-husband, Dalton Gomez, broke her heart during their two-year marriage.
She appears to reference her split from the Los Angeles real estate broker, whom she married in May 2021, on her “Eternal Sunshine” deluxe album, which was released on Friday.
In the song titled, “Intro (End Of The World) – Extended,” she sings, “I broke your heart because you broke mine.”
“So me, I am the bad guy, ‘Cause I’d already grieved you. And you started to realize I don’t need you.”
She also seems to call out her ex on the song “Twilight Zone.”
On that track, Grande sings about mistakenly thinking she knows the person she’s dating, but discovering the façade was a lie.
“Did I dream the whole thing? / Was I just a nightmare? / Different dimensions / Stuck in the twilight zone / Is this a black-and-white scene? / If so, then I’m in the gray one,” the lyrics read.
“Hope you win for Best Actor / ‘Cause I had you completely wrong,” she goes on. “Does she know you’re not who you say who you are?”
Later in the chorus, the singer says, “It’s not like I’m still not over you” but “sometimes, I just can’t believe you happened.”
Yet despite the trouble she experiences, she sings, “it’s not like I’d ever change a thing.”
However, Grande seems to show that she’s moved on on her single, “Hampstead,” which is a reference to the North London area where she and her new boyfriend Ethan Slater stayed while filming “Wicked.”
The singer also seems to defend her relationship from critics when telling online trolls that they were wrong in their speculations regarding the timing of her new romance.
“Threw away my reputation, but saved us more heartache, Yes, I know it seems f–ked up and you’re right, But quite frankly, you’re still wrong about everything. So far off, your seat’s nowhere near the table,” she sings.
“I’d rather be seen and alive than dying by your point of view,” she continues.
Gomez and Grande’s reps did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Grande, 31, and Gomez, 29, simultaneously filed for divorce in September 2023. The “Thank U, Next” hitmaker reportedly met Slater in December 2022, on the set of their Oscar-winning film.
At the time of their meeting, Slater, 32 was also married to his former high school sweetheart, Lilly Jay, with whom he shares a 2-year-old son. By July 2023, Slater divorced Jay.
The dissolution of their marriage was officially settled in September while Grande’s divorce was finalized in March 2024.
Grande denied cheating allegations in her September Vanity Fair cover story while defending her new relationship with the actor.
“The most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version of it,” Grande said at the time.
