Michael J. Fox celebrated his daughter Esmé’s 23rd birthday with a rare tribute on social media.
The “Back to the Future” star, 63, took to Instagram over the weekend with a heartfelt message for the birthday girl, whom he shares with wife Tracy Pollan.
“Esme, Happy birthday to our renaissance gal. You do it all,” he captioned the carousel. “Your Dood loves you very much..Who doesn’t? Keep living your best life. 😍♥️”
Fox included several photos of Esmé, who is private on social media and rarely makes public appearances.
In the first snap, the Duke University student posed in a sunny courtyard wearing a denim skirt and purple vest. He also included pictures of her smiling at a restaurant and playing with a dog.
Along with Esmé, Fox shares 35-year-old son Sam and 29-year-old twin daughters Aquinnah and Schuyler with Pollan.
The actress, 64, also shared a sweet message to their youngest on Instagram Sunday.
“I love you @esmeannabelle Happy Birthday!!!” she wrote. “I love absolutely everything about you and I am blessed to be able to explore the world with you! You are my heart 💜.”
Pollan’s post included several photos from their mother-daughter travels, from canyon hikes to strolls along the river.
“Oh the women in my world,” Fox commented under the pictures. “So many amazing places that you make better by being there.”
Although the “Teen Wolf” actor rarely posts pictures of his family, he often posts sweet tributes for their birthdays.
He and Pollan married in 1988, three years after they first met on the set of “Family Ties.”
The actor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s three years after they tied the knot but didn’t publicly announce it until 1998.
Despite his 30-year health battle, Pollan has been a pillar of support for her husband.
“Tracy wasn’t sentimental or romantic about it at all,” he told AARP magazine in 2017 of his wife’s reaction.
“No exhibition of grief and fear. Tracy was just like, ‘You’ve got a stone in your shoe. We’ll do what we can until you can get it out. In the meantime, if you limp with the stone, that’s all right. You can hold my hand, and we’ll get over that.’”
While they have remained strong over the years, Fox admitted in April 2023 that his condition has worsened with age.
“I’m not gonna lie. It’s gettin’ hard, it’s gettin’ harder. It’s gettin’ tougher. Every day it’s tougher,” he said on an episode of “CBS Sunday Morning.”
“You don’t die from Parkinson’s. You die with Parkinson’s,” he added. “So – so I’ve been – I’ve been thinking about the mortality of it.”
Although Pollan previously told Page Six that it can be “hard” to stay “optimistic all the time,” she said they focus on just “[putting] one foot in front of the other and lean[ing] on family and friends for support.”
