You can always count on Jennifer Lawrence to bring the glamour to the annual Cannes Film Festival. Over the years, the A-lister has treated the iconic Cannes steps as her fashion playground—always bringing jaw-dropping Old Hollywood dresses to the mix. This evening, that was certainly the case yet again. The star attended the premiere of her new Lynne Ramsai film Die, My Love co-starring Robert Pattinson in a perfectly elegant Christian Dior design.

Styled by Jamie Mizrahi, Lawrence’s off-white, silk taffeta dress was actually inspired by a 1949 Poulenc dress from the label. The sculptural and scalloped look—covered in soft pleats—was refreshed for the modern-day, and required 250 hours of work. A little retro, yet also timeless, the look embodied the mood of ease and elegance of Cannes. (Not to mention it adhered to the ultra-strict dress code this year, which calls for no super-voluminous or sheer silhouettes.)

Earlier today, meanwhile, Lawrence attended a private dinner for Dior and The Hollywood Reporter in another polished ensemble from the French brand. The star wore Dior’s floral long-sleeved, floor-length maxi gown with sheer sleeves—an elegant touch on the free-spirited, bohemian trend taking over fashion at the moment. Only her first day into Cannes, and we have already gotten two sophisticated style serves from the star. The question is: Will she keep it going all week long? Stay tuned to find out.
